I worked with Tennis Australia to visualise the 2020 Australian Open ‘Grand Slam Oval’; an entertainment precinct just outside of the main sports arena. The oval was split into zones, each representing a famous location in Melbourne, such as Lygon st, Chinatown, the Yarra Valley and the iconic city lane-ways. My rough drawings assisted in planning the space accurately, as well as indicating available promotional spaces to sponsors.

The final construction featured many iconic elements from the original sketch, such as the Chinese lanterns and lions, Victorian terrace house motifs, hot air balloons, vineyard trellises and a large TV screen perched atop a wall of wine barrels.

I worked with Tennis Australia on many further Australian Open projects, creating illustrations to help visualise event installations and precinct layout.
Practice Village & Federation Sqaure: Concept Illustration

As part of Kia’s sponsorship of the Australian Open, I designed the graphics for a large activation: the ‘AO Selfie with Rafa’ competition. The promotion involved taking a ‘virtual selfie’ with Rafael Nadal inside a featured Kia car. To encourage participation, the mural was eye-catching, bright and suitable for social media sharing.

These illustrations were create to promote sponsorship opportunities in the Australian Open.
